Our only regret is that we didn't spend more time in Kiev. We thought this would be our first challenge with Cyrillic, but Kiev has a surprising amount of English signage. We barely scratched the surface of the sights, although Matt was excited to see some soviet era war machines (G.I. Joe has that strong a hold all these years later).
Mini Hostel Kiev was clean and intimate, and featured the kind of gregarious host you both hope for and fear in a hostel. Joachim provided sage travel advice, as well as shots of vodka, and corralled our crew of German, Dutch, Finnish, Kergyz and American travelers out to a Ukrainian bar. Social coordinator and guidance counsellor all in one.
